Syr Darya oblast. Fortress of Tashkent
The Turkestan Album is a collection of visual materials about Central Asia, including about 1,200 photographs, as well as architectural plans, watercolor sketches, and maps. The work consists of four parts, divided into six large leather-bound volumes: “Archaeological Part” (two volumes), “Ethnographic Part” (two volumes), “Trade Part” (one volume), and “Historical Part” (one volume). The first three parts of the work were compiled by the Russian orientalist A. L. Kun with the assistance of N. V. Bogaevsky. The album was prepared and published in 1871–1872.
